Well unfortunately West has already associated himself and his campaign with figures critics may find unsavory such as grifter Jimmy Dore, supplement slinger Joe Rogan, and total weird Russell Brand. Dore, Rogan, and Brand align themselves with a vision of popular West espouses in his writings and speeches but also platform vaccine conspiracy theorists and white supremacists. Why is such a powerful activist for racial justice aligning himself with these people?
Francesca and her just Nelini Stamp of the Working Families Party (a third-party that actually organizies) talk about the benefits and limits of third-party organizing and possibilities of success for Cornel West and the Peoples Party, shepherded by Dore.
West, who has shown himself to be a powerful campaigner, helping out Bernie in the Iowa Caucuses in 2020, he even supported Barack Obama in 2008. But as of recent, however, West may have strayed from his principles. He even praised Ron DeSantis, in The Wall Street Journal, “for his revolutionary defense of the classics.”
In his first campaign ad West says: “Neither political party wants to tell the truth about Wall Street, about Ukraine, about the Pentagon, about big tech,” West said. “Do we have what it takes? We shall see.” Indeed, we shall see…
