Bill Maher took to Twitter, I mean X, to give his hottest take in 240 characters or less, or rather in 5+ paragraphs. Maher’s movie review is a confused tirade against feminism. The Barbie Movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, has grossed over $1 billion worldwide, making Gerwig the first solo female director with a billion-dollar film, who certainly isn’t worried about Bill Maher’s letterboxd review.
Bill starts off his rant by claiming that the Barbie “movie is so 2000-LATE” -- had to steal a Black Eyed Peas lyric instead of writing your own joke? Pretty classic Bill. It’s just a movie about a doll, why does it have all these men in a fit? Bill gets lost in doing ‘data’ about Mattel’s boardroom, a minor part of the film in order to prove patriarchy doesn’t exist in the real world. He wraps his review by adding “Barbie is fun, I enjoyed it.” Here’s a free edit Bill, just say that and way more people would find you relevant!
