11:32Now PlayingPatients and doctors are trapped inside Gaza’s largest hospital amid bombing and a new Israeli ground invasion. The latest reporting is that doctors and patients have been surrounded and marched out of a place where they were saving the lives of 650 patients, 100 of whom were in critical condition. Additionally, there were thousands of Palestinians sheltering around the hospital complex.
Many saw this devastation coming. For weeks, Gaza’s hospitals have been struggling without electricity and gas. Then the bombing came. The hospital also has 39 premature babies who were taken off their incubators because of a lack of fuel and electricity.
Yet when asked about the hospital, President Joe Biden said he hopes “there will be less intrusive action relative to the hospital” while at the same vehemently standing against calls for a ceasefire. It’s one thing to hope it’s another thing to do.
Israel claims that Hamas operates out of Gaza hospitals making use of tunnels. John Kirby, a spokesman for the US National Security Council, has moved to support that claim for the justification of bombing doctors and patients, including premature babies. However he said “we do not support striking a hospital from the air,” said Kirby, which is why there is now a ground offensive on the hospital
