How biased has Western media’s coverage of Palestine been?
Many critics say news outlets have only been telling one side of the story. As we discuss, Anti-Palestinian bias in mainstream media is well documented and has only been heightened in recent months, painting Palestinians as pawns of Hamas who they slap with label of terrorists.
Further, despite fact-checks and debunking, headlines still circle about Hamas’ 'beheaded babies'.
Moreover, journalists struggle to call Palestinians victims in any way, while being sure to continue coverage of Oct 7th and the victims of that tragedy. And those who do risk there jobs. Now MSNBC has even cancelled Mehdi Hasan’s weekend show on Peacock. Hasan is rate critic of Israeli policies on cable, known for his agitational interview-style and his progressive politics.
The coverage is part of a larger issue of covering events rather than long-term, systemic issues. And the corporate media’s lack of care about the occupation of Palestine as non-news and couldn’t care less about the people of Gaza or about the blacklisting of activists or the influence of AIPAC.
