America’s favorite punching-bag is out of the Republican primary.
After not seeing a path to victory (we could have told you that), the Florida governor Ron DeSantis has dropped out of the race. That’s not to say DeSantis didn’t try -- he really did! In Iowa, he spent big and traveled to all 99 counties to court voters. Ultimately, Ron DeSantis spent more than $53 Million to win only 23,420 Votes In Iowa.
Now, the off putting and awkward Ron DeSanctimonious, Meatball Ron, or Ron DeEstablishment will return to his home state of Florida to wreak havoc on trans peoples, Black people, and poor people. In the last three years, DeSantis made his brand all about fighting ‘woke’ through a well-publicized fight with the Disney Corporation over anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Ironic, because he and his wife were actually married in Disneyworld(!) He also pushed through the STOP WOKE Act to ban books and basic African-American history from classrooms. Unfortunately him leaving the campaign trail just means returning to his same old bullshit.
