How did Trump celebrate Black History Month?
By being a casual racist of course. While Trump has repeatedly claimed he is the “least racist person,” his record shows anything but. And recently he’s reminded us of just how low he can go. In a speech given to a group of Black conservatives in South Carolina, Trump claimed that Black people empathize with him because he was indicted on so many crimes. In other words, he’s calling them criminals.
Trump makes explicitly racist and otherwise bigoted remarks on the nearly daily. It is actually the case that the first time Trump was actually in the New York Times, it was because the US Department of Justice sued him for racial discrimination.
At the same time Fox News this week claimed that Trump will do well with Black voters because he launched his $400 pair of gold high tops… c’mon! But beyond the strange comments and predictions there may be something to his appeal: Trump’s polling with Black voters could set a record for a Republican president.
