David Dayen, Editor of The American Prospect joins to take stock of what Bidenomics has meant for average Americans and it’s actually, not half bad. While there’s plenty to criticize when it comes to Biden’s foreign policy or the piecemeal approach to politics, his administration’s work on everything from unions, anti-trust laws, investment in green energy, going after junk fees, and student debt relief have been positive.
At the State of the Union, Biden touted much of his administration’s accomplishments like the CHIPS Act which funds nationally-made semiconductors, as well as the investments in infrastructure under the Inflation Reduction Act. He also promised to raise the corporate tax rate and touted saving Americans on Medicare money on prescription drugs as the government can now negotiate prices on a select few.
The problem is, so many of the benefits of Biden’s policies are slow to implement and hardly mentioned at all. It seems like these victories aren’t even making headlines perhaps out of fear of right-wing backlash? Whoever is on the Biden PR team needs to kick it into high gear well before November.
