as posted by the channelAfter floating a mask ban in Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass quickly caught Covid-19. Oops. Why, after so much pride in precaution would this Democratic mayor change her tune?
Turns out Bass is not the first Democratic politician to come out with a mask ban proposal this month. See, the ban isn’t in response to rising Covid cases (which in fact are rising) -- the bans are in response to perceived rising antisemitism/protests against Israel’s ongoing genocide. .
So how does a mask ban help that? Protesters regularly cover their faces to avoid right wing doxing and police surveillance. Cue politicians like New York Governor Kathy Hochul are saying prohibit masks in public spaces like city transit systems. “You’re sitting on a subway and someone puts on a mask like this and comes in, you don’t know if they’re going to be committing a crime, they’re going to have a gun, or whether they’re just going to be threatening or intimidating you because you are Jewish, which is exactly what happened the other day,” said Hochul. Except, there stil isn’t clarity on the incident ‘the other day’ she’s referencing, and seems to be more targeted at Palestine protesters who ride the subway.
It's merely an attempt to limit protests. After protests fought back against mass surveillance on campuses and around cities for Palestine and BLM, elites are saying they’d like to see our faces. Interestingly, New York actually did have a mask-wearing law pre-Covid dating back to the 1800s, when tenant farmers dressed as Native Americans and rose up violently against landlords. Sick.
