In a 6-3 decision the rogue Supreme Court ruled that presidents – but more specificallyTrump – is entitled to immunity from federal prosecution for actions he took as president, or any that he could take in the future. Notably this means that any cases having to do with January 6th can probably be thrown out as Trump’s lawyers will argue he was performing an “official act.” Officially inciting a riot to keep yourself in power? That’s essentially what the conservative majority in the court decided. It means that special prosecutor Jack Smith’s case against Trump for his actions on Jan 6 will undoubtedly be delayed until after the election, and perhaps not pursued at all depending on how other district courts deal with the new ruling.
Following the decision, Trump called the decision a "big win for our Constitution and democracy." Yes, nothing like coronating presidents as kings to celebrate America’s foundational documents and purpose.
And it’s not just Jan 6, the court’s immunity decision threw a huge wrench in Jack Smith’s attempt to charge Trump for a criminal conspiracy to overturn Biden’s victory. It could even help Trump’s goons who are also facing similar charges and threats.
But SCOTUS’ rulings didn’t end there–they also criminalized homelessness and rendered all federal agencies powerless to enact basic regulations without a court approval. The far right exremist takeover of the country is near complete. All they need is their boy back in the White House.
