Last weekend, Trump manned the McDonald’s fry station and the drive-thru for a photo-op at the fast food joint. Predictably, when reporters approached him at the window, he was asked about lifting the minimum wage. “Well, I think this: I think these people work hard, they’re great, and I just saw something, the process. It’s beautiful. It’s a beautiful thing to see,” Trump said. “These are great franchises, they produce a lot of jobs,” responded.
In the days after, Trump was rewarded with a “french fry certification” pin participation trophy from Republican lawmakers. But Yelp reviewers took it out on the franchise, leaving bad reviews of the Pennsylvania location. “Repeated himself several times, something about Ronald McDonald in the showers at the golf club? … 0 stars. Do not recommend,” wrote one reviewer. Someone else complained that a “creepy old man” working the window “offered to pay me some hush money to keep this story quiet.”
And after Trump’s weird job-for-a-day, McDonalds stock price plummeted (not because of Trump but not not because of him). On Tuesday, news broke that an E-Coli outbreak related to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders is spreading across the country.
