How Did Dems Spend $1.5 Billion In 100 Days?

How much would you spend to lose the presidential race?

For Kamala Harris, the answer is over $1 billion. In her speedrun campaign, Harris’s team ran through roughly $100 million per week to lose the electoral college and the popular vote. Following the Democrats' losses across the board, many are pointing fingers at the campaign’s spending and posing larger questions about what went wrong.

Though one can hardly fault the $600 million on ads or the $50 million for door-knockers (which seems paltry by comparison), some of Harris’s team's other spending is a little more questionable. She shelled out nearly $1 million to put her face on the Las Vegas sphere in the last week of the race. Similarly, the Dems spent at least the $1 million to garner Oprah’s endorsement while some estimate they spent closer to $2.5 million.

Though the Biden and Harris campaigns collectively raised about $2 billion, breaking records in only a few months, Democratic National Convention (DNC) let reporters know last week that the Harris campaign ended up more than $20 million in debt. Now, post-campaign, workers at the DNC have been laid off without severance. Oops!
