as posted by the channelMike Johnson is truly shameless. He had the audacity to say that Congress doesn’t make enough money and needs to trade stocks. The same week where he tried to take away Medicaid for 10.3 million Americans.
That’s right, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson actually said with a straight face that Congress is too poor to not trade stocks. He pointed to their salaries being frozen since 2009, which if you adjust for inflation means they earn 31% less than when the freeze was instated. Oh no! Your $174,000 a year, plus 100% taxpayer subsidized healthcare and housing is not enough for you? Not to mention the legalized campaign bribes and the lobbyist dinners? Tell that to all the mothers, babies, and disabled people who are about to lose their Medicaid.
Don’t worry, it gets worse. Mike kept digging that hole for himself, crying that they won’t be able to find “qualified” candidates for Congress if they don’t make enough. So the only people who are qualified to govern are those who will exploit their position for financial gain? And here we thought the point of being in congress was to represent their constituents.
