First, the MAGA trolls tried to compare themselves to The Resistance in Star Wars. Now, they are actually defending The Empire? Even ironically this take is bad news.
Everyone knows the story of Star Wars: The Empire = Bad. The Resistance/Jedi = Good. Pretty simple stuff. The bad guys are literally based on Nazi Germany, so it should be pretty easy to follow. Well, some MAGA commentators are now trying to say that we need to take a second look at who the real good guys were in Star Wars.
Conservative commentator Scott Jennings was on a recent CNN round table, and took a real bold stance. Granted, it was laced in irony but he said that maybe Emperor Palpatine wasn’t such a bad guy after all. All he was doing was silencing a bunch of troublemakers in The Resistance and ousting the deep state Jedis. Okay sure, he may have done a little bit of mass killing, blowing up the planet Alderaan. But clearly MAGA sees no problem with that. If anything, they are using the Palpatine play book when it comes to Gaza and anyone who speaks out. We all know who the real resistance is.
