There was a time when people were looking at Governor Gavin Newsom as the future of the Democratic party. Look at the guy, he looks like a Hollywood blockbuster’s idea of a president. Well other than slicked back hair and strong bone structure, Gav ain’t it. Ever since Trump regained the Oval Office, Newsom has capitulated to MAGA’s most regressive policies. Especially when it comes to trans rights.
Trump went on the attack against California recently. He threatened to cut their federal funding if they didn’t ban a trans athlete from participating in the high school state championships for the long jump. Trump already tried to pull this move against the state of Maine, and he lost to Governor Janet Mills in court. So you’d think that Gav would show some backbone here and stand up for his constituents…
Nope. California is folding to pressure by creating a carveout for the cisgender girl who didn’t qualify, effectively making three classes of competitors and perhaps giving the trans athlete even more of an edge. LOL. Of course this likely isn’t enough to satisfy the regime’s bigotry, so they are still launching an investigation into the state’s policies. These feckless California Democrats keep giving Trump an inch, thinking that will make him happy. Never give a fascist any ground, because they will never stop taking if you do.
