17:43Now PlayingTrump’s power grab just took a violent turn. He is sending 2,000 National Guard AND 700 Marines into Los Angeles to brutalize peaceful protesters, fighting to defend their communities from ICE.
We have reached the military crackdown portion of our descent into fascism. (It only took 6 months to get back to June of 2020!) There has been speculation since Trump retook office that he would institute martial law as a part of his authoritarian power grab. Well, he skipped the whole declaring martial law part, and just went straight to deploying the U.S. military on its own people. Now the state of California is suing over this brazen escalation.
Trump’s secret police, ICE, have been wreaking havoc in communities around Los Angeles, raiding workplaces, Home Depots, a donut shop, and even schools. The people of the city, sick of ICE’s thuggery, have come together to protect ICE from kidnapping their neighbors. So naturally the response would be to send the military in to assault the protesters, in an alarming escalation of violence by the state.
Make no mistake, Trump wants to bring this chaos onto blue states and cities. He wants to punish anyone who doesn’t bend the knee to him. And there is already reporting coming out that ICE plans to carry out similar, all out offensives in other blue cities. The people are out in these streets, putting their bodies on the line for their neighbors. Will the Democrats find the courage to do the same?
