Francesca sat down with the youngest New York City Councilmember ever elected, Chi Ossé, to talk about the upcoming election and how Zohran Mamdani could actually win.
New York City is in the midst of an affordability crisis. Corporate landlords are jacking up the rent, forcing more and more people out of the city or onto the street. And the establishment Democrats, who frankly are just Republicans, taking millions of dollars in donations to keep NYC this way. Thankfully, there is a new crew of young and exciting progressives who are aiming to change all of this, which has the old guard panicking.
With disgraced Mayor Eric Adams all but out, the NYC establishment had no choice but to dust off disgraced Governor Andrew Cuomo. That’s right, the guy who resigned after being credibly accused of sexual harassment by 13 different women is in the running. And by some polling, has a narrow edge over Mamdani. The thing is, when Cuomo first entered the race, he was ahead by double digits. Now that early voting has begun, that lead has been cut down to the margin of error, with some polls putting Mamdani ahead of Cuomo.
The thing that makes NYC elections unique is that they use ranked choice. This means if the candidate that you rank 1st doesn’t meet the minimum votes needed, your vote then goes to the 2nd ranked candidate and so on. So, if you are in NYC, vote Zohran Mamdani #1 and DON’T rank Andrew Cuomo.
