The House passed a $832 billion defense spending bill, and then quickly recessed for the summer to avoid voting on the Epstein files. In typical fashion, this “defense” bill sends billions of dollars to Israel, despite their ongoing ethnic cleansing and mass starvation of Gaza.
Jewish space laser truther Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced an amendment to the bill that would withhold any further military funding to Israel’s missile defense system called the Iron Dome. While her motivations for introducing this amendment are almost definitely sus, stopping any and all support of Israel is the right thing to do. And you would think the progressive wing of the house could all get on board with this. Unfortunately, AOC seems to have bought in on the Zionist framing of Israel’s “defensive weapons”.
While AOC did vote against the overall defense budget, she refused to vote for MTG’s amendment despite four of her progressive colleagues doing so. Her argument being that there is a difference between funding Israel’s Iron Dome defense system and funding the mass murder of Palestinians. It’s precisely because Israel has its defense system backed by the U.S. that it feels so confident in attacking countries like Iran unprovoked. This is the equivalent of paying for the bulletproof vest of a school shooter.
