as posted by the channelSometimes progressives are told “now is not the time to criticize Democrats.” Other times we’re told to embrace the centrists in the party, as they are part of the so-called Big Tent. But why would voters want to count themselves among Democratic lawmakers who voted to keep funding DHS and Kristi Noem’s Goon Squad?
Thanks to Speaker Jeffries decision to not whip any support for voting NO on the budget appropriations bill— that continues to fund ICE— seven Democrats broke ranks and voted with Republicans to keep funding ICE to the tune of $10 billion a year. Let’s name and shame. They are:
*Henry Cuellar — TX (indicted on bribery charges and pardoned by Trump)
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez- WA (darling of Ezra Klein)
*Jared Golden - ME (voted to gut IRS funding to go after the rich)
*Laura Gillen - NY (called Mamdani too extreme)
*Vicente Gonzalez - TX (voted with Marjorie Greene to make it a felony to give trans care for minors)
*Tom Suozzi - NY (centrist who takes massive Democratic Majority for Israel money)
*Donald Davis - NC (also voted with Marjorie Greene to make it a felony to give trans care for minors)
This vote is precisely why we need better Democrats to lead us out of this fascist nightmare. We can’t begin to do that if our leaders are more concerned about their donors, looking “tough on crime” or are afraid to think big about American politics.
@YouTubeWajahatAli and I broke it all down, and laid out a new litmus test which includes what the majority of Democrats want: ABOLISH ICE.
