As this nightmare Supreme Court continues to hand down awful rulings, birthright citizenship is now in the crosshairs of the court. Will they really revoke a right that is enshrined in the 14th Amendment? Rhiannon Hamam of the 5-4 Podcast joined Francesca to talk about the very real possibility of the end of birthright citizenship as we know it.
From day 1, the Trump 2.0 regime has been hard at work to erode our rights. Through ICE and mass deportations, we have seen the regime fully ignore the Constitution to violate our rights to habeas corpus, unlawful search and seizure, just to name a few. They also want to be able to dictate who is a citizen in the U.S., with Trump issuing illegal executive orders to end it.
The 14th Amendment clearly states that, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” But the Constitution hasn’t stopped this regime from violating our rights. And the politically corrupt Supreme Court has been more than happy to greenlight these violations. Will they go so far as to upend birthright citizenship though?
