The Supreme Court just passed down a decision saying that the 2019 Colorado law banning licensed counselors from using “conversion therapy” was not constitutional. What possible legal argument could they use for this? Apparently the court decided that banning “conversion therapy” is a freedom of speech issue, calling it “viewpoint discrimination”.
This is an absolutely insane argument. There are countless studies that show that conversion therapy is deeply harmful to LGBTQ+ kids. Torturing these kids to scare them straight is freedom of speech, but gender affirming care is child abuse? And 8 out of the 9 justices went for this?? Completely disgusting…
