Peter joined Francesca to talk about how he keeps his solidarity with the Jewish community despite being threatened for speaking out on Gaza.
Peter Beinart recently received an insane veiled threat from Mark Dubowitz, the CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. On Twitter, he tweeted, “Ali Khamenei is gone. Yahya Sinwar is gone. Hassan Nasrallah is gone. Now the most public advocate for the elimination of Israel may be Peter Beinart,” Yikes! That is a truly terrifying thing to just say out loud on Twitter.
But Peter takes it in stride, and still advocates for solidarity amongst Jews. This is because he believes in the people and the faith, not in a state. States can come and go, and we have seen states become fascistic and genocidal through history. Israel is no exception to this, and we cannot conflate the entirety of the Jewish people with the state of Israel. This just breeds further antisemitism.
