39:50Now PlayingIn all the doom and gloom, there are still bright spots we can look to. A new batch of progressives are making their way to the halls of congress to fight for a better future. One of those Democrats is Rep. Analilia Mejia from New Jersey’s 11th district. She joined Francesca to talk about all the ways she is using her position to fight for working families.
With all the corruption of the Trump regime, Rep. Mejia has been leading the charge in the fight against their fascism. She is co-chair of Defend the 14th Amendment Task Force. It’s no secret that this despotic regime is hellbent on destroying the 14th Amendment to disenfranchise voters and take away birthright citizenship. Mejia is out here using congressional power to slow their fascist roll and making sure everyone knows they’re protecting under the constitution.
Not only that, but she is actually trying to do something about the affordability crisis. How does a $25/hr minimum wage sound? Because that is one of the bills she is trying to get through Congress. What better way to fight affordability than to have more money in your pocket? She has also been a long supporter of Medicare for All. If only the whole Democratic party was made of Reps like Analilia. We could actually be the working peoples party again.
