Vote No on Prop 50, Californians

On The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show, Buck Sexton called on Californians to reject Proposition 50, the ballot measure backed by Governor Gavin Newsom. Prop 50 would temporarily scrap the state’s independent redistricting commission and allow the legislature to impose its own congressional maps for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections.

Supporters argue it’s a way to counter Republican gerrymandering in other states, but opponents—including Buck—warn it’s a blatant power grab that undermines California’s voter-approved system of fair, citizen-led redistricting. Sexton framed it as a fight to preserve accountability, saying voters should not let politicians redraw districts to entrench their own power.

He stressed that a “No” vote protects independent redistricting, prevents Sacramento from tilting the playing field, and keeps California elections from sliding into partisan manipulation.
