6:40Now PlayingClay Travis and Buck Sexton break down the newly released audio recordings of Joe Biden speaking with his ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer while working on the 2017 memoir Promise Me, Dad. After years of legal fights to keep them private, the tapes (obtained during Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation and released by the Oversight Project) capture Biden acknowledging possession of classified material.
In a February 2017 recording—just one month after leaving the vice presidency—Biden says: “I just found all the classified stuff downstairs.” He then references a handwritten 40-page memo he wrote to President Obama in 2009 arguing against additional troop deployments to Afghanistan. In earlier 2016 conversations (while still VP), he tells Zwonitzer he has “extensive notes” the White House “didn’t know I have” and repeatedly flags material as “classified.”
