The Trump team’s new re-election strategy is banking on Americans just becoming “numb to the escalating death toll” and learning “to accept tens of thousands of new cases a day.” Brian Kilmeade and WH Chief of Staff Mark Meadows toed the party line like good little boys, echoing the idea that we’re just going to have to “live with” Covid-19 and re-open regardless of the ongoing risks. It doesn’t look like the strategy will be as successful as the GOP hopes, as research indicates that Trump’s approval rating is slipping in areas most affected by the coronavirus. Some small businesses received just $1 in Covid-19 relief loans, while the Kushners, Wall Street, members of Congress and tons of other super wealthy people Trump is friends with, raked in millions. ICE says that international students whose universities are moving to online-only teaching will be blocked from entering the country and forced to leave if they’re already here. Army Spc. Vanessa Guillen’s remains have been found and evidence of clear foul play has been uncovered. A district court rules that the Dakota Access Pipeline is to be shut down pending environmental review, a huge win for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and environmentalist groups. Trump won’t stop attacking NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace --and NASCAR clapped back.

"The Trump administration seems ready to roll out a new public message on the coronavirus: Americans should just accept the new rise in cases and the death figures. And Fox News figures are apparently testing out this new public relations campaign.
“The virus is with us, but we need to live with it," one administration official told NBC News last week.
The Washington Post reported Monday that the administration hopes “Americans will grow numb to the escalating death toll and learn to accept tens of thousands of new cases a day”:
White House officials also hope Americans will grow numb to the escalating death toll and learn to accept tens of thousands of new cases a day, according to three people familiar with the White House’s thinking, who requested anonymity to reveal internal deliberations. Americans will “live with the virus being a threat,” in the words of one of those people, a senior administration official.
“They’re of the belief that people will get over it or if we stop highlighting it, the base will move on and the public will learn to accept 50,000 to 100,000 new cases a day,” said a former administration official in touch with the campaign."
