"Two candidates for what is likely to be a crowded special election said Wednesday they were running for Rep. Marcia Fudge’s seat if she is confirmed to head the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Fudge, a Warrensville Heights Democrat, has occupied the seat since 2008 when she won a special election to succeed Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, who died unexpectedly. Both Cuyahoga County Councilwoman Shontel Brown and former Cleveland City Councilman Jeff Johnson said they would run for Fudge’s seat if the Senate confirms Fudge as President-elect Joe Biden’s pick to oversee HUD. Another, former state Sen. Nina Turner, filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission on Wednesday, indicating she will also run.”

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), Bernie Sanders’ former campaign co-chair; Rep.-elect Cori Bush (D-Mo.), a Black Lives Matter activist who unseated an incumbent Democrat; and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison are endorsing Turner, her campaign told POLITICO. Our Revolution, a progressive organization founded by Sanders and previously led by Turner, will be backing her bid as well."
