"Bret Baier reported on Thursday that he is hearing “crazy things” on Capitol Hill during the ongoing speakership battle.
Last week, eight Republicans succeeded in removing Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as speaker after one of them filed a motion to vacate the chair. Those eight were joined by 208 Democrats. Republicans nominated Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), but he currently does not have the votes needed to become speaker. Other members of the conference prefer Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the job.
McCarthy joined Baier on Special Report on Fox News, where the host asked about the mess in the House, where the next speaker will need a majority of votes to win. (There are currently 433 members and two vacancies, which puts that number at 217 – assuming all members vote for a candidate.)"
