"Capitol Hill reporters read to Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) the explosive criticism Donald Trump lodged at him on Truth Social earlier on Thursday over the ongoing budget crisis.
The president-elect accused the Texas lawmaker of obstructing budget negotiations and threatened to back a primary challenger in the next election cycle. Trump’s comments come after he pressured the GOP to pull a spending bill that would have kept the government funded until at least March 14th. Ironically, both Trump and Roy publicly opposed the bill. However, Trump had called to eliminate the debt ceiling, something Roy has long been opposed to doing.
“The very unpopular “Congressman” from Texas, Chip Roy, is getting in the way, as usual, of having yet another Great Republican Victory – All for the sake of some cheap publicity for himself. Republican obstructionists have to be done away with,” Trump wrote earlier in the day on Truth Social."
