"Topline President Donald Trump met with Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Tuesday and continued to say the United States will take possession of Gaza and move Palestinians out of the area—despite pushback and resistance from international leaders.
Speaking from the Oval Office with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Trump repeatedly said the U.S. would take control of Gaza and would not need to buy it, saying, “We’re going to take it. We’re going to hold it. We’re going to cherish it.”
When asked about Trump’s plan—which he has said would include moving Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan—King Abdullah II said he wanted to wait until Egypt presented Trump with a plan “and not get ahead of ourselves” (both Egypt and Jordan have historically opposed accepting large numbers of people from the Palestinian territories, fearing the move could allow Palestinians to be permanently uprooted and impact their countries’ stability)."
