"White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt refused to deny reports that migrants were not treated as humans at Guantanamo Bay and said it was a "promise that the president campaigned on."
During Tuesday's White House briefing, Leavitt was asked about a Washington Post report on the treatment of migrants.
"They told the Post they were rarely let outside, they were shackled and placed in what they described as cages, and alleged that they were not treated as human beings," one correspondent noted. "Does the White House have any response to those conditions?"
"It's a promise the President campaigned on," Leavitt replied"
