"Elon Musk revealed to Fox News’ Jesse Watters that his desire to colonize Mars stems from wanting to get the entire human race a “life insurance” policy.
“Mars is life insurance for life collectively,” Musk told Watters on Monday.
Musk broke it down even further, saying all living creatures will eventually be “incinerated” by the sun. He said he envisions a future of “multi-planetary” living for humans.
“So, eventually, all life on Earth will be destroyed by the sun. The sun is gradually expanding, and so we do at some point need to be a multi-planet civilization because Earth will be incinerated,” he said."
