"Candace Owens doubled down on her claim that French First Lady Brigitte Macron was born a man on Wednesday after French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife filed a defamation lawsuit against the right-wing commentator accusing her of spreading the conspiracy theory that Brigitte was born “Jean-Michel Trogneux.”
The 218-page complaint, filed in Delaware, alleges Owens used this claim across multiple podcast episodes and social media posts to boost her following and profit from the ensuing controversy. The Macrons say they repeatedly asked Owens to stop, but she escalated instead. The suit seeks damages and a retraction.
Owens, who earlier this year published an eight-part series on her YouTube titled Becoming Brigitte, opened today’s episode with the announcement that she had been sued “by the First Lady-Man of France” and then raised her arms in reaction to a clip from the movie Gladiator."
