"For nearly six months, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) have been criss-crossing the country speaking to stadium-sized crowds on their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, which is intended to educate Americans on how President Donald Trump’s policies can be harmful to the country’s most vulnerable people.
But while thousands have come out to hear their message, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) believes they’re doing it all for the wrong reasons.
Crockett out Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders’ national tour, saying they are using it to promote themselves rather than to help the Democratic Party gain momentum in the fight against Trump and his Republican supporters in Congress.
According to a new profile of Crockett in The Atlantic, the Texas Representative, who threw her hat in the ring to be the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, told Representative. Maxine Dexter (D-OR) in a meeting that she thought the tour was “a good idea,” but is more self-serving than helpful to Democrats’ cause of taking back Congress in the 2026 midterm election and the Presidency in 2028."
