Trump Claims Water Can Disable Magnets During Navy Speech Aboard USS George Washington
"During a recent speech aboard the USS George Washington aircraft carrier, former President Donald Trump made several controversial claims regarding the use of water and magnets in military technology. Speaking to U.S. Navy personnel off the coast of Japan on October 28, 2025, Trump reiterated his assertion that water can disable magnets, a statement that has drawn significant scrutiny.
In his address, Trump advocated for a return to traditional hydraulic systems for certain aircraft carrier functions, specifically recommending the use of “steam for the catapults” and “hydraulics for elevators.” “You know, the new thing is magnets,” he stated, suggesting that relying on magnets could lead to complications. “You take a little glass of water, you drop it on magnets, I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he added, emphasizing his skepticism towards the magnetic technology currently employed in modern carriers.
