Oversight panel demands interview with former Epstein prison guard
"The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee requested an interview with a prison guard who was on duty the day Jeffrey Epstein died as part of its broader investigation into the convicted sex offender’s death.
“Due to public reporting, documents released by the Department of Justice, and documents obtained by the Committee, the Committee believes you have information that will assist in its investigation,” the panel wrote in a brief letter to Tova Noel.
Noel is no longer a guard at the New York facility where Epstein was being held at the time of his 2019 death.
She and another worker at the Metropolitan Correctional Center were charged with falsifying records, though the case was later dropped.
“For substantial portions of their shifts, Noel and [Michael] Thomas sat at their desk, browsed the internet, and moved around the common area. … To conceal their failure to perform their duties, Noel and Thomas repeatedly signed false certifications attesting to having conducted multiple counts of inmates that they did not do,” the Justice Department wrote in a press release when the two were first charged."
