"Satirical news outlet the Onion is moving closer to taking over Alex Jones’ InfoWars — with plans to turn the conspiracy theory peddler into a comedy platform led by Adult Swim content creator and comedian Tim Heidecker.
The proposal is backed by families of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, who won more than $1.4 billion in defamation judgments against Jones and his Austin-based company.
Comedian, musician, writer and producer Tim Heidecker would lead a new, satirical version of InfoWars under a plan pitched by the Onion.
The plan was pitched as a way to reshape InfoWars while preserving its operations and assets as the legal drama moves through court, according to filings this week in state District Court in Travis County. "
