Trump deployed thousands of National Guard in DC but they aren’t stopping any crime
"Thousands of members of the National Guard have been deployed by Donald Trump onto the streets of Washington, D.C. – but appear to be stopping little crime, according to a report.
Trump billed the huge deployment in August 2025 as an effort to tackle "out of control" crime in the city. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office later estimated that the troop rollout had already cost $223 million by the end of 2025.
However, according to Reuters, just 1.3 per cent of the criminal cases filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, which handles most of the city's criminal prosecutions, mention the National Guard's soldiers."
