25:53Now PlayingAuthoritarian expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat—author of Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present—spoke to SiriusXM radio’s Dean Obeidallah about how Donald Trump continues to embrace the aspiring tyrant playbook. Ben-Ghiat warned that Trump installing his personal lawyer Todd Blanche as Attorney General conjures up Hitler’s use of his personal attorney Hans Frank for key positions to ensure his fascist vision was followed. Frank was responsible for “the Fuhrer Principle” which means that anything Hitler wanted to do was now the law—something Trump dreams of. In addition, Ben-Ghiat warns that Trump arming ICE agents with gloves that can electrically shock people reminds her of Argentina’s tyrannical leader Pinochet. She explains this not about immigration enforcement. It’s about intimidating those who oppose Trump as she warns Trump will use ICE agents to do more as we close in on the 2026 election.
