Janiyah Thomas has spent her career in conservative politics, from the Republican National Committee to Senator Tim Scott’s presidential campaign, but she thinks that the Republican Party hasn’t always filled its ranks with people who are culturally in tune with African Americans. So when she joined Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign as Black Media Director, her goal was to communicate with black people in a way that was truly effective.
We talked about why law and order matters to black voters, why she defends Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C., and why she rejects the term “white supremacy.” She also pushed back against the allegations of racism aimed at Charlie Kirk after his death.
