On today's What America's Thinking, a Hill/HarrisX poll finds many Americans saying they aren't sure whether certain policies are mostly capitalist or socialist. Economist and Director of Poverty and Welfare Policy at the Niskanen Center, Samuel Hammond, and Director of Research at Ipsos, Mallory Newall, discuss the perceptions of the terms capitalism and socialism in America. This survey was conducted online within the United States from March 8-9, 2020 among 1,001 registered voters by HarrisX. The sampling margin of error for this poll is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. The results reflect a nationally representative sample of registered voters. Results were weighted for age within gender, region, race/ethnicity, income, political party, and education where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population.
