One in eight new moms experiences postpartum depression according to the Centers for Disease Control, but there is some light on the horizon as the Food & Drug Administration recently approved the first-ever pill for postpartum depression.
Postpartum depression is a health condition that can occur up to 1 year after having a baby, but most commonly starts 1-3 weeks after childbirth. It is often characterized as strong feelings of sadness and anxiety. Moms may also experience a loss of appetite, insomnia, and difficulty bonding with their baby.
