3:41:26Now PlayingThe GOP-led House Rules committee is meeting Tuesday afternoon to decide whether to proceed with charges of contempt of Congress against Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Republicans on several House committees now have mooted such charges against the nation’s top prosecutor. The calls come in response to Garland’s refusal to allow access to audio recordings from special counsel Robert Hur’s questioning of President Biden, part of an inquiry to determine if Biden has committed any impeachable offenses.
Garland maintains that because transcripts of the interviews are available, the actual audio would serve no legal purpose. Democrats have suggested their Republican colleagues are especially interested in content for political ads against Biden.
Should the committee decide that charges are warranted, the House floor will hold a vote
