The union reports that they represent some 350,000 firefighters and emergency workers in 85 percent of U.S. and Canadian communities.
Walz, Minnesota’s governor, is coming off the Democratic convention where he impressed his party with a dynamic speech.
Vice President Harris, the new Democratic presidential nominee, has been riding a wave of strong poll results since the convention. The support of major unions like the IAFF could prove vital, even as Republicans work to rein it in.
Walz is slated to appear at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
