2:18:31Now PlayingThe House task force investigating the assassination attempts against former President Trump will hold its first hearing Thursday morning, focused on the shooting at Trump's July rally in Butler, Pa.
The hearing will narrow in on the “Secret Service’s Reliance on State and Local Law Enforcement” at the campaign event where a gunman opened fire. The former president was grazed by a bullet, one person was killed, and two others were wounded.
After a second apparent attempt was made on his life at his Florida golf club earlier this month, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) tasked the panel with looking into both threats.
The hearing also comes after the House and Senate passed legislation to require the Secret Service to “apply the same standards” to figure out how many agents should be used to protect the president, vice president and those running for offices granted such protection.
The task force is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
