as posted by the channel

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) is holding a press conference Friday morning, just days after Republicans secured control of the lower chamber of Congress.

Jeffries earlier this week sought to take the fall for Democrats' losses in last week's election — but his colleagues didn't buy it. Their demonstration of support also shows that the Democratic leader — who was reelected to serve a 7th term in the House — should bring in an easy victory in next week's minority leadership elections.

His comments come after House Republicans locked in their top leaders Thursday. GOP lawmakers unanimously nominated Speaker Mike Johnson to keep his leadership post, while reelecting Reps. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) to continue in their positions as majority leader and majority whip.

The presser is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. EST.
