16:45Now PlayingVice President Harris will deliver a speech to high school and college students in Maryland Tuesday focused on young leaders who are active in their community.
Her remarks are set to focus on optimism for the future generation of politicians, something she highlighted frequently while on the campaign trail, and the importance of remaining engaged in the fight for basic freedoms, and will zero in on the idea that “the leadership of every day Americans is even more urgent and necessary in the months and years ahead,” according to a White House official.
The event is poised to be Harris’s most extensive comments since losing the 2024 election to President-elect Trump.
It’s unclear what her next steps will be once she and President Biden leave office next month.
The speech in Prince George’s County, Md., is scheduled to begin at 11:35 a.m. EST.
