YouTube Description
as posted by the channelHomeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem (R) will address staffers at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the first time Tuesday afternoon.
The Senate confirmed Noem to lead DHS in a 59-34 vote on Saturday, marking a relatively smooth process as other nominees face more scrutiny.
Noem, the former governor of South Dakota, was also in New York City early Tuesday observing immigration enforcement efforts that began after President Trump returned to the White House.
Trump is expected to sign the Laken Riley Act — legislation that mandates the federal detention of immigrants without legal status who are accused of theft and burglary, among other things — on Wednesday, making it the first bill to become law in his second term.
Noem’s remarks are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. EST.
