37:25Now PlayingHouse Democratic leaders will give remarks Tuesday morning ahead of President Trump's first major speech before Congress.
The press conference, led by Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) and vice chair Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), come with just 10 days left until government funding is set to expire, with no bipartisan deal in sight. Democrats have pressed their GOP colleagues to offer assurances that Trump will use the funds appropriated by Congress for their intended use.
They have also hammered the president for the blitz of firings that have occurred since he returned to the White House, accusing Trump and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) of seeking to dismantle the very institutions that make the country run. They have lined up fired federal workers as guests for the Joint Address to Congress.
Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Ill.) is set to give the Democratic response to Trump's speech later Tuesday.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. EST.
