President Trump is slated to give remarks Friday afternoon at the first White House crypto summit, announced by the White House earlier this week.
The event comes a day after Trump signed an executive order that would create a bitcoin reserve and “digital asset stockpile.” According to the order, the administration would use the cryptocurrency seized by federal law enforcement to establish the reserve.
Despite previously dismissing crypto as a “scam,” the stockpile marks Trump’s largest embrace of crypto, an industry that has largely welcomed his assistance after facing heavy regulations under the previous administration.
The president is scheduled to speak at 3 p.m. EST.
