Hard-line conservatives, many of them members of the House Freedom Caucus, have remained firm in their criticism that the budget resolution doesn’t include the spending cuts they are asking for. The delay marks a blow to both Johnson, who pushed for a speedy adoption of the measure, and the president, who has seemingly been unable to cajole the holdouts.
The Speaker said Wednesday that the chamber would “probably” vote on the measure Thursday.
Their joint briefing is scheduled to begin at 8:50 a.m. EDT.
